We have updated our&nbsp;<a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/websites.awesomified.com\/doctorcarewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/DoctorCare_ON_QRG_PrenatalPostnatal_Jan2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"rank-math-link\">quick reference&nbsp;guide<\/a>&nbsp;to provide some clarity in order to help you bill more effectively. Below are the latest updates on prenatal care codes for billing:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>At the initial prenatal visit with your patient (i.e. major visit such as a physical assessment), you should bill with a P003 code.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The following prenatal visits of these patients (i.e. minor visits) should be billed using a P004 code.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The P005 code is billed when the antenatal preventative care assessment is completed. The form is&nbsp;effective July 1, 2017, and includes the following major&nbsp;updates:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Expanded from 2 to 3&nbsp;pages&nbsp;<\/strong><br>The&nbsp;original two-page record has been expanded to three pages to allow for more thorough documentation of medical, genetic, and psychosocial&nbsp;&nbsp;issues (this is the requirement for billing P005).&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Now a total of 5 pages&nbsp;<\/strong><br>It now includes a page of mental health screening resources and a standardized postnatal visit record (for a postnatal visit, you bill P008).&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Updated sections &amp; consolidations<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Updated genetic history and investigations&nbsp;<\/li><li>Updated language respectful of gender identity and the multiple ways in which individuals may identify themselves as a parent&nbsp;<\/li><li>Updated demographics to reflect newer methods of contact, planned place of birth, newborn care provider&nbsp;<\/li><li>All lab and ultrasound tests are now on page 2&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Working with the Ontario Perinatal Record (OPR)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The OPR contains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A comprehensive section on immunizations<\/li><li>Prompts for special circumstances requiring time sensitive interventions&nbsp;<\/li><li>Inclusion of mental health screening questions and tools&nbsp;<\/li><li>Grouped and expanded discussion topics by trimester&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Download the PDF version <a href=\"https:\/\/websites.awesomified.com\/doctorcarewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/08\/OntPrenatalRecord-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"here (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Electronic version<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Technical specifications for the electronic version of the OPR are now available.
